FEBRUARY 2025 Update – After over a year of displacement, Mahmoud and his family have returned to their neighborhood in North Gaza. Amidst the destruction in the region and the continued lack of humanitarian aid, Mahmoud has created a volunteer team to begin rebuilding school buildings. His message is below: “The goal of this team is to bring life and hope back to the Gaza Strip after 500 days of war. Education is the foundation of building any society, and after the destruction of 90% of schools in the Gaza Strip, we are now working on collecting donations to build a temporary primary school. This project will first target restoring classes for children ages 6-10, given the importance of this stage of educational development.

The images featured in this campaign are digital renderings Mahmoud created while designing this project. With a young child of his own, Mahmoud is determined to restore necessary primary education to the children in his community.
My name is Sadie. I live in Wisconsin in the United States. I met Mahmoud and his brother, Bara’a, in July 2024 on social media, and agreed to create a fundraiser for Mahmoud after learning more about him and his situation.
